Grade 8 · Current project

Personal website

Develop your existing personal website with a finished home page and working content/navigation. Your earlier work is part of this project.

Summative: 8–19 OctoberA / 8 · B / 8 · Final submission 19 October at 20:00 China time

Start with what you have

Bring your two completed worksheets and existing personal website files. Plan for one week of focused work. Reuse the last two worksheets and existing project files; add only missing evidence or short notes about real changes. No new research report, separate evidence index, or rewritten answers are required.

Reuse Research your website audience (Worksheet 1) and Plan your home page (Worksheet 2). Keep the audience evidence, three website comparisons, three home-page ideas, chosen design, and wide/narrow layouts. Do not restart the site or repeat the research.

Finish your existing personal website

Improve your existing personal website using the home-page design chosen in Worksheet 2. Make it useful for the audience you researched. Keep the content and files that already work; one HTML page with linked sections is enough.

Due Monday, October 19, 2026 at 20:00 China time.

What the finished product needs

  1. Use real personal content. Make the home section explain who the site is for and what visitors can find. Include a short introduction and at least one real interest or work example with a relevant image and caption. Replace unfinished placeholders; do not invent achievements.
  2. Make navigation work. Give the introduction and interests/work content clear labels. Visitors must be able to reach each section and return home. Existing separate pages or anchor links within one page are both acceptable. Test every link.
  3. Keep one useful interaction. Keep or finish one interaction that helps the visitor, such as showing more information. Check its label and states. Native HTML details/summary is enough; custom JavaScript is optional.
  4. Use the planned layout. Follow your chosen home-page design and existing wide/narrow plans. Use consistent colors, fonts, and spacing. Text, images, navigation, and controls must fit a phone-width window without sideways scrolling.
  5. Check readability and access. Use clear heading order, readable contrast, meaningful links, and alternative text for informative images. Test controls with Tab and the keyboard; the focused control must be visible.

Plan for one week of focused work. Reuse the last two worksheets and existing project files; add only missing evidence or short notes about real changes. No new research report, separate evidence index, or rewritten answers are required.

Start: review your existing plan. Middle: make the final product. End: check the files and submit. Use the remaining lessons and short work sessions at home; the deadline stays October 19.

The existing assessment remains Criterion A /8 and Criterion B /8. Use the worksheets to explain research and design decisions. The finished product supports that evidence; Criterion C is not added. The existing rubric band descriptions remain unchanged.

Unzip into a new folder and open the start file. Test navigation, images, the interaction, keyboard access, and a narrow window. Fix missing files and keep earlier versions. No separate test report is required.

What the two scores mean

A · Inquiring and analysing

Show who needs the solution, what you researched, what existing examples taught you, and how the findings guide the project.

B · Developing ideas

Show the requirements, possible solutions, reasons for the chosen design, and labelled plans another person can understand.

Your teacher awards one best-fit level from 0 to 8 for A and another for B. The strands guide the judgement; they are not four separate two-point summative marks. Worksheet totals are not averaged to calculate these levels. The rubrics are task-specific clarifications of the school’s MYP assessment approach, not a replacement for the applicable IB criteria.
