Course checkpoints

The dates below are internal planning targets. Proposed tests and DP2 dates require timetable confirmation; they are not IB deadlines. Use the current Toddle assignment for submission instructions.

  • 23 Oct 2026 · ProposedProgramming checkpoint

Proposed: tracing, search and sorting; before the reporting week.

  • 8 Jan 2027 · ProposedSemester 1 assessment

Proposed: cumulative programming and computer fundamentals. Exact sittings to be confirmed.

  • 17 Jun 2027 · TargetIA problem exploration complete

Target: shortlist feasible problems and identify the main technical risk.

  • 17 Dec 2027 · ProvisionalSyllabus complete; working IA draft

Planning target before winter break; adjust to the 2027–28 school calendar.

  • 21 Jan 2028 · ProvisionalInternal IA completion target

School planning target, not an IB submission deadline. Approximately 35 supervised hours across the project.

The computational solution

Choose a problem you can define, investigate and solve with a manageable program. Agree measurable success criteria before committing to implementation. Preserve your own design decisions, development evidence and tests throughout the work.

DP1 · By June 2027

Explore the problem

Identify feasible problems, likely users, needed data and technical risks. Investigate the riskiest part before expanding the scope.

DP2 · Autumn 2027

Design, build & test

Confirm the specification, plan the solution, develop in supervised sessions and test against the success criteria. Target a working product and draft before winter break.

DP2 · January 2028

Evaluate & complete

Evaluate the evidence, complete the required submission components and check integrity and attribution. Internal completion target: 21 January 2028, subject to confirmation.

Your working checklist

  • A clear problem and a justified, manageable scope.
  • Measurable success criteria and an explicit development plan.
  • Design evidence that explains the structure of the solution.
  • Authentic development evidence and readable source code.
  • Normal, boundary and invalid tests, linked to the criteria.
  • An honest evaluation supported by the results.

Exact report, demonstration and submission requirements will be issued using the current IB guide before the project launches.

Case study & examination preparation

When the cohort’s case study is available, build a glossary, investigate the technology beyond the booklet and keep a source-backed research record. DP2 revision combines timed questions, full-paper practice, mocks and work targeted to individual errors.

The May 2028 examination session is the course destination. Paper dates will be added when the examination timetable is available.
