Work through the lesson

1. Choose your starting concept

Review your three sketches and partner feedback. Choose the strongest direction. You may borrow a useful element from another idea if it supports your three brand words.

2. Build Version A

Use Method Draw, or PowerPoint as a fallback, to make a clean digital version of your chosen sketch. Work with shapes, text, fill, stroke, alignment and grouping as needed. Focus on clear shapes, spacing, readable letters and limited colours.

3. Make Version B: simplify

Duplicate your logo. Remove details, lines, colours, text or shapes. Find out how much can disappear while the identity remains recognizable.

4. Make Version C: change the structure

Duplicate a version and make a structural change: proportions, arrangement, the relationship between symbol and letters, negative space or emphasis. Changing only the colour does not count.

5. Test all three versions

Compare each logo at normal size, very small, and in black and white. Check whether it remains readable and still communicates your three brand words.

6. Ask for a partner critique

Ask which version is most memorable, which works best small, which best matches the brand, and what could be removed or simplified.

7. Select the version to refine

Save your versions and finish “I am developing Version … because …” Use what you observed in the tests and feedback to explain your choice.
